Welcome to my very first blog.
Why am I doing this?
Excellent question. Well firstly, I have written a novel. It’s about elephants, mostly. A fantastical tale. A story book for grown-ups.
So, why have I spent the last year researching and writing this novel?
Three four answers spring to mind.
- I would like to be a writer and survive – food, shelter etc.
- I would like to make money for elephant causes.
- I want to contribute to informing, educating, and entertaining people about elephants, though I hasten to add I am no expert.
- In a far away world…changing perspectives changes minds – this book certainly offers a different perspective from well-worn human narratives.
This is where you can help. If you are interested and read the book. Please leave a review. Hopefully, you will like my book. Alternatively, if you don’t read it, don’t like the front cover, the content, other reviews, elephants, me, that’s OK. But someone else you know might so please SHARE.
Now you may be thinking. Uh! Another self serving, wanna be rich, slick (or not so slick) marketing campaign to launch someone’s career on the back of elephants, and the exploitation of my emotions and goodwill. Well, i’m not sure how to answer that yet, other than ‘stick with me and when/if this book makes any money, I shall start donating to charities. I would like to donate on World Elephant Day – Saturday 12th August. No doubt I shall be posting soon on the merits etc. of charitable giving as a marketing strategy.
There are plenty of themes in the book, which I intend to explore further over time. I shall also be putting up some book related artwork by Francesca Lindsay-White, who is also my betrothed. I shall be posting poems, musings, short stories, little bits of flash fiction when inspired, all related to Padma and the other characters and elephants more generally. I would like to write more books, if I can pay the rent. Sutra means ‘thread’, and I imagine a number of interweaving elephant stories that connect to the books meta themes.
If you got this far, thank you for reading my page.
If you are interested in what you read, then share, come back, introduce yourself, ask questions etc. etc.
